These awards, now in their 8th year, commend visionaries who are reshaping our world through imaginative, sustainable, and groundbreaking architectural and design practices.
The AMP 2023 Awards stand as a tribute to excellence, spotlighting projects that not only exhibit architectural brilliance but also significantly contribute to environmental sustainability and human well-being. This year’s edition witnessed a convergence of entries from leading global architecture firms, including industry giants like BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group and Sir David Chipperfield, alongside emerging talents like Omar Gandhi. The diverse pool of winners, comprising architects, designers, and visionaries, showcased remarkable contributions, spanning from sustainable urban planning to meticulously crafted interior design.
Guided by Valerie Schweitzer, the jury panel comprised esteemed designers, architects, curators, and academics, notably Dr. Dawn Jourdan from the University of Maryland and Dr. Sedef Doganer from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Evaluating exceptional submissions posed a challenging yet thoughtful process for the AMP jury.
In a historic turn, the Architectural Design of the Year title ended in a tie, honoring both ‘Sluishuis’ by Barcode Architects and BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, and the captivating ‘New Temple Complex’ by James Gorst Architects. This remarkable event echoes the architectural brilliance and dynamic discourse within the society, showcasing a robust contest and diverse talent pool among this year’s entries.
