The Showbox
With two locations, (Pike Place Market and SoDo), The Showbox offers a plethora of music genres. Originally opening in 1939, the venue is beautifully designed in art-deco style and has been delivering everything from Jazz Age acts, to the city’s famous Grunge era bands right through to the current wave of up-and-coming Seattle talents.
Chihuly Garden and Glass
Located at the Seattle Centre, Chihuly Garden and Glass combines nature with the intricate art of glass blowing. One of the best known artists in the field, Dale Chihuly has presented his comprehensive collection of works through exhibitions, garden installations and intricate galleries. The centrepiece of Chihuly Garden and Glass can be found in the Glasshouse; a striking, 100-foot long sculpture in vivid shades of red, yellow and amber. Families can learn about the art and life of Chilhuly at one of the gallery talks, held daily.
Pacific Northwest Ballet
Widely recognised as one of the country’s premiere regional dance companies, this talented bunch are not ones to miss on a visit to town. Founded in 1972, the Pacific Northwest Ballet is now gracing audiences under the artistic leadership of Peter Boal – a well-regarded former dancer who hailed from the New York City Ballet.
