Party Vibes and Cocktails at Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel and Beach Club
Swapping out the tranquillity of the south coast of Koh Samui to the livelier northeast of the island, we checked into Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel and Beach Club for party vibes and cocktails.
Mid-century Miami South beach is the inspiration for this eye candy-popping resort, where retina-burning bright colours, fun designs, curves and patterns give plentiful photo opportunities.
Arriving mid-afternoon on a Friday, Seen Beach Club is in full party swing where teal blue daybeds with striped green and white umbrellas and loungers are filled with sunbathers enjoying poolside drinks. As the DJ plays the music we enjoy watching guests posing on the pastel pink tuk-tuk and at the swim-up pool – it’s an influencer’s dream.
The beach club is more drinking and lounging than dancing and posing, which suits us perfectly, and the crowd is an interesting mix of ages. We’d assumed it would be mainly young 20-somethings but that’s just a small number of the people here. If anything it’s a slightly older crowd, but maybe that’s to do with the minimum daybed spend for the pool loungers at the club which ranges from £130 upwards. Although it’s not necessary to have one – you can still enjoy the place without the boujee beds.
The hotel guests have an alternative pool to sit around. I’d like to say it’s a bit quieter than the neighbouring club but between the thud of the DJ’s sounds just a few metres away and a guest who is delighting us with their own party mix that isn’t actually the case. Still, nothing a set of earbuds can’t sort out!
It’s surprising that the sound of the beats hardly reaches our corner pool view room. With the balcony doors closed you can barely hear the fun below. We’re all about the party but when you need to relax and switch off it’s good to know you can.
It takes us a good 20 minutes of admiring the room design before we even entertain the idea of unpacking. The rooms are a fine mix of style and function managing to keep the retro vibes going throughout while there’s plenty of room to spread out. We particularly admire the paint stripe patterns and orange/mustard colour accents in our room and the bathroom tile and grouting detail is next level with definite home makeover inspiration.
The food offer is great at Avani Chaweng. From breakfast buffet to poolside snacks, lunch and dinner the choices are excellent. We’ve had a taco-sharing platter (the fish and pork tacos were especially tasty) that would easily serve four. We’ve had perfectly cooked tuna and Barramundi fillets and delicious Thai soups. The red curry at breakfast was just the right side of spicy to kickstart our day.
On Sunday you can book a table for the Tropical Brunch. 3 hours of eating, grazing and cocktails are available for around £65 per person. It includes sushi and oysters, crab, tiger prawns and mussels as well as Wagyu burgers, pizzas, pasta and if you’re missing it; a proper British Sunday lunch with Yorkshire pudding and gravy.
Between 6pm – 8pm there’s a buy one get one free offer on cocktails and beer plus on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, weather permitting, there’s an impressive beach fire show at 7pm followed by dancers.
The resort itself is close to lots of shops, a night market, a shopping centre and bars. It feels vibrant, fun and friendly on our nights out exploring. It’s also just 10 minutes from the airport which is handy if you’ve had a long day of travelling ahead or behind you.
