OZO WESLEY HOTEL IN VIBRANT WAN CHAI, HONG KONG

The OZO Wesley has put the vibrant Wan Chai area of Hong Kong firmly on the hospitality map.

Modernism and minimal sleek lines, together with intuitively designed rooms, give you everything you need for the perfect night’s sleep. With space at a premium in Hong Kong OZO Wesley Hong Kong manages to use clever design techniques to help visitors stay comfortable for a perfect 3 night stay.

Nestled between Admiralty and Wanchai MTR stations, and within walking distance of the hip bars and boutiques of Star Street, the big brand shopping of Pacific Place and the buzzing nightlife of Lockhart Road, it’s the ideal location to explore this exciting City.

Hong Kong is an ideal city to explore on foot and OZO Wesley is perfectly placed to discover what the city has to offer. From newly opened (and increasingly hip in HK) craft beer bars like the Hoppy Junction, just around the corner on Johnston Road, which is ideal for a locally brewed pint and a snack (we had the Punch Drunk NEIPA by Seven Brews and a plate of Currywurst that could give Berlin a run for its money), to more established hangout and expat haunt Tai Lung Fung, where the bar staff serve up a mean cocktail.

For shopping there is certainly plenty to choose from but for something a little different then the Star Street area has everything from a tiny Monocle Bureau on St Francis Yard to help kit you out in the smartest and most of stylish outfits to the Kapok store that can help you with just about all the best brands you can think of.

Close by, along the infamous Lockhart Road, you’ll find a mix of girlie bars and music venues – it’s a mixed bag and a with just a bit walking off the slightly less trodden track you’ll be rewarded with something a little more pleasing than the tacky bars on offer.

The MTR (buy an Octopus Card at a station it’s much easier and cheaper) is great for getting around and the Star Ferries are worth a visit too. Our top tips for exploring from your Wan Chai base are:

Take a Ferry to Lamma Island for no motorised vehicles and no skyscrapers. The bohemian island is perfect for a day by the beach, a good trek or some nice, easy going timeout.

Have a look at PMQ (Police Married Quarters) for creative Hong Kongers. There are shops over eight floors within this historic converted building that are home to the creative community, selling handmade designs, art, clothing, and much more.

Whilst checking out PMQ you are perfectly placed for the mid level escalators – the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world covering over 800 metres in distance and traversing an elevation of over 135 metres from bottom to top). Hop on and off a day of finding antique stores, bars, restaurants and art shops.

Head to the Ladies’ Market in Mongkok for some serious haggling – but be warned; do not get in to a discussion with store holders if you are not serious about buying something, they are pretty fierce.

The neighbourhood of Tin Hau is a great place to grab a bite to eat. Ki’s Roasted Goose Restaurant has been there since 1976 and does a busy trade in rice and goose, suckling pig and jellyfish dishes while Camper’s do a mean Asian curry.
