Nestled in the heart of the historic Medina of Marrakech lies IZZA, where ancient tradition meets modern design. A boutique hotel that seamlessly combines old-world charm with contemporary touches. The highly-anticipated property, set to open its doors on September 1st, 2023, is comprised of seven interlinking riads that have undergone meticulous redesign.
From the moment you step inside, contrasts reign supreme at IZZA. Traditional Moroccan decorative arts fuse beautifully with modern design and furniture, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere throughout the property. Named after the original Berber owner, IZZA boasts 14 individually-inspired rooms, each named after creative freedom seekers who once graced the streets of Marrakech in the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s.
The rooftop terrace is a marvel of interlinking terraces, while the Bill Willis Bar pays homage to the designer of many opulent Marrakech homes and the founder of Moroccan-style interiors. The floor of the bar is even dedicated to the recreation of Rick’s Bar from the classic film Casablanca, and the tadelakt walls feature zellige detailing found in Bill’s personal home, adorned with dozens of his personal artefacts and photographs.
IZZA prides itself on being a “House of Friends,” where guests are hosted and treated as such. From the quiet library to the cosy tea room, the property offers respite from the bustling streets of Marrakech, while the courtyards and roof terraces provide perfect spaces for socializing and making new friends.
Master Architect Amine Kabbaj has overseen the project since its inception eight years ago. His meticulous design can be seen in every corner of the property, incorporating tadelakt walls with zellige detailing, intricate IZZA design details, and compassion for the original riads, resulting in a formidable combination of traditional and luxurious.
Interior Designer Roman Piotrowski and Brand Director San Yetlee lead the hotel’s attention to detail, ensuring Moroccan artisanal products and fabrics run throughout the property. Books found in the rooms have been carefully curated to resonate and compliment the person after whom the room is named, creating an immersive and personalized experience for each guest.
IZZA rates start from £170 per night, including breakfast. IZZA.com
