NONOTAK’s ECLIPSE: An Immersive Art Exhibition in London You Won’t Want to Miss

This autumn, London is home to a truly unique art experience. The French-Japanese artist duo NONOTAK has launched their first-ever solo exhibition in the city, called ECLIPSE. Running until 8 December 2024 at 47 Tanner Street in Bermondsey, the exhibition combines light, sound, and space in a way that surrounds and immerses the viewer.

Presented by Lumen Studios, ECLIPSE is designed to challenge your senses and make you rethink how you perceive art. NONOTAK made up of visual artist Noemi Schipfer and sound and light artist Takami Nakamoto, is known for creating immersive installations that blur the lines between technology, art, and architecture. This isn’t just art you look at—it’s art you experience.

ECLIPSE fills more than 1,000 square meters with three major light and sound installations: HIGHWAY, DUAL, and HIDDEN SHADOWS. These works create an environment where light moves and sound becomes part of the space, making visitors feel as though they’ve entered a new world.

NONOTAK is known for using cutting-edge technology to blend Schipfer’s line-based art with Nakamoto’s soundscapes, resulting in an immersive environment where light and sound seem to take on a life of their own. The exhibition explores contrasts—light and darkness, sound and silence, physical and intangible—and invites you to see how these elements can shift your perception.

NONOTAK doesn’t just create art to dazzle the senses. They are deeply interested in how sound and light can affect emotions and mood. ECLIPSE encourages visitors to reflect on how their environment impacts their mental state. By surrounding you with changing soundscapes and light displays, the duo invites you to consider how these elements influence how you feel.

As Nakamoto explains, “We want visitors to experience how light and sound combined can transform how we see space and influence our emotions.”

To make the experience even more immersive, NONOTAK will host live performances on 5, 6, and 7 September. During these shows, Schipfer and Nakamoto will create live sound and light installations, giving visitors a chance to see their creative process in action.

NONOTAK is no stranger to the international art scene. They’ve exhibited their work at major festivals and institutions like Tate Britain, MUTEK, and Art Basel Miami. They’ve also collaborated with big names like Hermès and ADIDAS. With ECLIPSE, the duo brings their forward-thinking approach to immersive art to London, creating an unforgettable experience that merges art, technology, and human perception.
