BEYOND THE TRACKS FESTIVAL COMES BACK TO BIRMINGHAM
Haçienda Classical, The Charlatans, Sleaford Mods + Billy Nomates, Inner City Live, BC Camplight, Todd Terry and more all feature over two days
It has been an incredibly difficult 12 months for the entertainment industry, with live music and festivals grinding to a halt last March, leaving artists, traders, crew and events staff without work. However, the world is slowly opening back up again and Beyond The Tracks will be making a grand return this August with one mission – to get the Birmingham live music scene back on track. Tickets go on sale from 10am Friday 14th May.
Beyond the Tracks held their inaugural event back in 2017, hosting a weekend of live music from world-class artists in Eastside City Park, Digbeth. There were sets from the likes of Ocean Colour Scene, Orbital, Editors, Maximo Park, Leftfield and The Jesus & Mary Chain, as well as spotlights on local bands and DJs. It was a huge success, with crowds flocking through the gates to enjoy Birmingham’s largest outdoor inner-city festival, as well as making the most of the gourmet street food and well stocked bar. The event even scooped up a nomination for “Best New Festival on the Block” at the Association of Independent Festivals.
A lot has happened between then and now, but there has never been a greater need for live music; both in terms of industry support and audience morale. That’s why the team at Beyond the Tracks have decided to return and do it all again this August. This time, the event will be hosted in the stunning Moseley Park & Pool – an 11 acre independently run park in the middle of Moseley Village, looking over a tranquil lake. The slope of the park acts as the ideal natural amphitheatre for live music, whilst the idyllic surroundings makes it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. With only limited tickets available it will be a more intimate affair, but that doesn’t mean the line up has shrunk. Once again, Beyond the Tracks will be welcoming some huge names to Birmingham.
Friday 27th will be headlined by Haçienda Classical, the award winning and acclaimed orchestral clubbing series which sees Graeme Park and Manchester Camerata Orchestra deliver a continuous set of classic club records with guest vocalists and choir creating a truly unique live performance. Joining Haçienda Classical are Inner City, Todd Terry and Heritage DJs. Meanwhile, Saturday 28th sees the much-loved West-Midlands band The Charlatans fill the headline spot. This alternative rock group have had a string of number ones since they started gigging back in the late 80s, and whilst they became synonymous with the Madchester scene, their roots will always be in Birmingham and Dudley. Joining them on the Saturday bill are special guests and post-punk duo Sleaford Mods + Billy Nomates, BC Camplight, The Clause, Cage Park, The Pagans S.O.H. + The Nu.
After a devastating year for the music scene, Beyond the Tracks promises to bring hope back to the city, both for the entertainment industry and for the gig-goers. This will be a weekend celebration of live music, of Birmingham and of our resilience.
