A SIEM REAP XMAS TREE SHAPED WITH SENTIMENT
Recognised as Cambodia’s premier hotel for six consecutive years, this year, Jaya House River Park in Siem Reap was selected as an emblem of resilience, signifying a path to recovery.
A stunning artwork paying homage to human perseverance, patience and strength, the installation comprises twenty-four thousand matte-black stones delicately suspended by a cascade of repurposed fishing twine, enveloping the revered cannonball tree within the room. The construction schedule entails 9-hour workdays, spanning 6 days a week for a duration of 3 months.
Ascending through a double-height skylight, the translucent tiered structure symbolises the fading obscurity of unprecedented challenges.
Amidst Siem Reap’s tumultuous infrastructure shifts, intensified by travel restrictions, a singular red crystal amidst the array of darkened stones stands as a beacon. It represents the collective spirit of a unified global community—a tribute to those departed, gratitude for the rescuers and a vivid reminder of the pulsating life force coursing within us all.
