Welcome to my world in Ascona, a place where art and nature intertwine seamlessly, inspiring every aspect of my life and work. Nestled on the shores of Lake Maggiore, Ascona is more than just my home; it is a canvas that constantly evolves, shaping my design philosophy and creative spirit.

My approach to design, which I call Maximinimalismobili, is deeply rooted in a harmonious blend of eclecticism and timelessness. I draw from the opulence of high Baroque Italian craftsmanship and the streamlined precision of Bauhaus principles. This balance is delicate yet deliberate, mixing 50% high Baroque with 50% Bauhaus craftsmanship. It’s about creating spaces that are both lavish and minimalist, where every piece has a purpose, and every element tells a story.

My journey in design isn’t confined to interiors. My foray into fashion has been equally influential, weaving itself into my approach to spaces. I remember a legendary fashion journalist once told me, “You dress like you live, and you live like you dress.” That statement resonates with me profoundly. My experiences in luxury clothing have taught me to see design holistically—whether it’s a room or a runway, the principles of balance, texture, and emotion remain the same. The two worlds, fashion and interiors, constantly inform each other in my work, creating a seamless dialogue between the fabric of our clothes and the fabric of our homes.

When designing the hotels for The Tschuggen Collection, I aimed to create a cohesive narrative that still allows each property to have its unique character. The view from the windows is always a starting point for me. It’s essential to create a dialogue between the inside and outside, bringing the landscape into the living space. Each hotel is designed to evoke a sense of place, to offer guests an experience that they can’t find elsewhere—melding luxury with a connection to the environment.

Take the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona, for example. This property is special, not just because it’s part of The Tschuggen Collection, but because it sits right next to my studio. The natural beauty and cultural richness of Ascona have profoundly influenced its design. The openness of the lake, framed by the sky and mountains, isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a living, breathing part of the hotel. Here, the landscape doesn’t just surround you; it embraces you, becoming a key element of the interior design.

Ascona itself is a constant source of inspiration for me. Living and working here, I am surrounded by its lakeside charm and rich artistic heritage. The light here is exceptional—it changes with the seasons, with the time of day, creating different moods and atmospheres that I strive to capture in my work. The freedom that comes from this environment is invaluable; it frames everything I do, giving me endless creative liberty.
