APPELSAP FRESH MUSIC FESTIVAL AMSTERDAM
Appelsap Fresh Music Festival has long been Amsterdam’s leading hip-hop party, a celebration of music, style, culture and family. For an almighty coming of age 18th edition, Appelsap showed no sign of slowing down.
On Saturday 11th August, Appelsap saw hip-hop fans unite in the luscious surroundings of Flevopark for a sun-soaked day of heavy beats, electric live shows and hi-energy DJ sets.
This year’s site was split into four stages – with Boiler Room, Patta, Smib and Noisey all returning for hosting duties.
Standout sets from artists from Amsterdam and beyond, shining a light on Dutch talent as well as bringing international artists to the city.
The Noisey main stage saw lively action from De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig to Jacin Trill, not to mention grime godfather Wiley tearing it up with old school bars and brand new material.
This year’s Boiler Room stage be remembered, South-London jazz icon Yussef Dayes brought along an all star crew, as well as Snoh Alegra with unique r&b flavours.
When the day descended in to night levels were turned up with serious mosh pits created by rising-star Slowthai, to DJ Maximum closing the stage playing non stop bangers.
The Patta stage hosted a strong crew, from Red Light Radio and NTS host Vic Crezée to London’s Bakar bringing the ultimate vibes. Booty bass legend DJ Deeon kept the crowd going with a mid afternoon high energy set and shout outs to the Smib crew for hosting Smib Station for the first year – an new Appelsap fave!
