Luxury brand Longchamp continues its creative evolution, partnering with acclaimed French furniture designer Pierre Renart for an exclusive showcase at Milan Design Week, set to captivate visitors from 7–13 April 2025. This marks Renart’s highly anticipated debut at the world’s most prestigious design event and his first creative exploration combining wood and leather.

Renart, renowned for his strikingly fluid wooden creations, embodies the spirit of innovation that Longchamp consistently champions through collaborations with visionary artists and designers. Having graduated valedictorian from Paris’s esteemed École Boulle in 2011, Renart quickly rose to prominence, with his meticulously crafted pieces featured in renowned international museums, including Paris’s Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and sought-after by discerning collectors worldwide.

Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s Creative Director, commented, “Longchamp has always been deeply committed to supporting emerging creative talent and preserving artisanal craftsmanship. Pierre’s unique vision aligns perfectly with our passion for innovation, and we’re excited to showcase his boundary-pushing designs to an international audience.”

This partnership, rooted in a creative alliance that began in 2021, initially saw Renart craft bespoke furniture—variations of his signature Wave coffee tables—for Longchamp’s global boutiques, including their Regent Street flagship in London. Now, Renart brings his artistic ingenuity to Milan, unveiling two exclusive new designs: the “Banquette Wave Cuir” (Wave Leather Bench) and a collection of eight distinctive “Chaises Ruban” (Ruban Chairs).

Each piece combines premium American walnut wood and supple cowhide leather, embodying Renart’s signature aesthetic of seamless, flowing lines inspired by organic forms found in nature. The artist’s intricate method involves layering and bending ultra-thin wood sheets into captivating sculptural shapes, challenging traditional notions of wood’s rigidity.

Renart described his ambition clearly: “My aim is always to create something timeless, definitive—something that feels complete. Incorporating leather, thanks to Longchamp’s remarkable expertise, has allowed me to achieve new dimensions in design.”

Delafontaine noted, “We challenged Pierre to maintain the same fluidity and effortless elegance typical of his wooden designs, despite introducing leather. The result is extraordinary—his creations appear as light and graceful as if made solely from wood.”

The Wave Leather Bench, upholstered in rich mahogany leather, and the eight Ruban Chairs, each uniquely coloured—including Longchamp’s iconic heritage greens—will be exclusively exhibited at Longchamp’s Milan flagship on via della Spiga from 7 April to 13 May 2025, with only the chairs available for purchase.
