MURALESS HOTEL, VERONA : THE ARTIST’S RESIDENCE

MURALESS HOTEL VERONA: THE ULTIMATE RESIDENCE FOR STREET ART LOVERS

Situated in the sleepy suburb of Castel d’Azzano, about 20 minutes away from Verona airport is a unique hotel that celebrates Made in Italy and its relationship with street art. The former Hotel Cristallo was completely renovated to celebrate a crossroads of culture, fashion food and history but also modernity and beauty, the result is an immersive experience of Italian culture and way of being.

A Journey Through Street Art at Muraless Hotel

From the enticing entrance floor, decorated by Agron Hoti, an Albanian artist who has lived in Verona for several years to the 94 uniquely decorated bedrooms to the colourful Thierry Guetta (AKA Mr. Brainwash) exterior, which is an ode to the city and to the romantic love shared by Romeo and Juliet, the hotel makes a statement with its explosion of raw energy.

Experience the Essence of Italy at Muraless Hotel

Designed to fuse fantasy and reality, the hotel is a member of the BWH Hotels within the WorldHotels Crafted brand which promotes properties that have notable art and design and tell a story, offering visitors authentic and unforgettable experiences.

A New type of hospitality at Muraless Hotel

Based on a completely immersive experience, the hotel pushes boundaries with its site-specific murals that tell stories to enhance the surroundings by celebrating Italy via the means of Street Art. ‘Italianness’ is exemplified through the themes of history, gastronomy, art, fashion and cinematography, allowing its guests to fully immerse themselves in the essence of Italy.

This phenomenon offers a constant renewal both in terms of definition, and the hotel is the first of its kind to give guests an experience of street art up close, with the option to interpret as they wish without needing specific knowledge of Urban Art techniques and codes.

Unique Room Categories at Muraless Hotel

The rooms, being art masterpieces won’t change. Each of the 94 rooms which are spread over four floors have been commissioned to represent the artist’s version of beauty, emotion and creativity; curated by Chiara Canali, every room has a personality and tells the story of an episode or subject.

The Versace Room by Fabrizio Sarti

Notable rooms include Room 358, which is the Versace Room and is a replica of Villa Casuarina complete with masonry techniques; designed by Fabrizio Sarti, AKA Acme17, this room transports you to Miami, and is also suitable for families. Encs18 created room 322, dedicated to the telephone and its inventor Antonio Meucci and, he has brought Meucci into the present, with a smartphone in his hand. Created using a mixed technique of spray and wall paint, this room can accommodate up to 3 people in comfortable single beds.

Caravaggio Inspired by Neve

Room 202 by Neve, is inspired by Caravaggio and was completed completely freehand, using spray cans to create a hyper real, photographic style setting. From the Barber of Seville and Madama Butterfly, to iconic Italian inventors Guglielmo Marconi (radio), Alessandro Volta (battery) to rooms dedicated to actors including Monica Vitti, Anna Magnani, Massimo Troisi and directors Sergio Leone and Federico Fellini. Fashion, cars and cuisine are also referenced, with typical Italian products such as pizza, ice cream, coffee, tortellini cropping up in images.

Rather than being painted over, the artworks will stay and need to be maintained over time with an ambitious project, represented by “Adopt a Room”, which makes patronage a real thing. Partner Companies can adopt a room and customise it with their name and joining this unique reality communication and giving guests an immersive, multisensory experience through hotel accommodation and valorisation of the territory and of Italian culture and genius.

Meet the Artists Behind Muraless Hotel’s Murals

50 of the best Street Artists on a national and international level were involved. The real goal of Muralless Art Hotel is precisely to make Street Art understood in a more universal way and make it accessible to everyone.

A Collaborative Effort: 50 Renowned Street Artists

Working with 50 of the best Italian Street Artists including Vesod, for his refined creations; Neve, for the hyper realistic nature; SeaCreative, for the impressive font techniche; Luca Font, for perfection of the strokes; Etnik, for design elegance; Mr. Thoms, for the delicate nature; Mr. Savethewall, for his great creativity; Joys, for his unmistakable trademark; Chill Surrealism, for the chromatic precision and harmony and Takle Zero, for the beauty of the female face.

The Visionary Curator: Chiara Canali

Art critic, journalist and independent curator, Chiara Canali was brought on board to bring her knowledge on trends in contemporary art; having been commissioned to research Street Art and Urban Art, she has also been involved with creating urban redevelopment and regeneration projects.

The Passionate Owner: Gianmaria Villa

Owner Gianmaria Villa doesn’t really consider himself an art collector in the strict sense of the term – that is, the possession of something for the sake of having it, preferring things that arouse an emotion. For example, in the hotel lobby is his Lambretta and Vespa which are not just mopeds but a set of memories – youthful passions and design.

He is also part of the Velox Hospitality Group which has a pool of companies – including an Academy in Egypt, which specialised in hotel management, customer service, catering and human resources. The students of this school acquire theoretical and practical skills in line with the needs of the Italian tourism industry, then honed at the Muraless Art Hotel.

Among the activities offered to the public, the exhibition Wallsaved by Mr. Savethewall, an internationally renowned artist and one of the greatest exponents of urban art, with the aim of transferring the external walls inside the hotel during ArtVerona Segnala; the experience will allow beginners and experts to explore new techniques, play with colours and shapes, and use their imagination, resulting in learning skills and taking home a tangible memory of Verona.

Muraless Hotel Verona: The ultimate residence for street art lovers

As the first of “In the City” the brand plans to build new structures with similar features to the Muraless Art Hotel. A project in progress that in our opinion through the years will have space in several new locations compatible and trendy new locations also outside of Italy, as the Muraless is a new model and hotel concept ready to export.
