Contemporary Brazilian artist Giuliano Martinuzzo has launched the first capsule collection of his slow-fashion brand, HØAT (Ho-at). The collection, entitled “Enigma,” is composed of 7 monochromatic, gender-neutral pieces, with sizes varying from “1” to “3”. HØAT, a joint effort between Contemporary brazilian fashion artist Giuliano Martinuzzo and Ana Matos as the fashion designer creative director and Guilherme Muller as creative director and curator, embodies the idea of slow-fashion and local production. All materials used are selected with special attention for sourcing and quality.
The pieces are “based in the intersection of the life movement, between people and solitude, starting from the literal to understand the turns that guide us to aligned points – that everything from past, present, and future are provisory.” With this philosophical approach, translated to pieces carrying the essence of Martinuzzo’s signature organic lines, HØAT proposes a collection that is detached from gender and sizes, where people are not judged as a “small” or “large” but rather are put in contact with pieces that work well with each other, and also in combination with each individual.
“It’s a brand very much based on introspection and reflection, tension and contrasts,” says Muller. He is the mastermind behind the urban classic, mysterious tones that permeate the brand’s Instagram and visual identity as a whole, translating Martinuzzo’s artistic vision to the more practical aspects of the brand.
Martinuzzo’s unmistakable lines permeate the pieces, giving flow to the sharp and asymmetric cuts provided by Matos’ style. The combination is brutalist and baroque, a mix between the sobriety and future-oriented style of a cosmopolitan São Paulo and the organic nature surrounding the concrete jungle.
The center of HØAT’s first collection of contemporary brazilian fashion by artist Giuliano Martinuzzo is the only piece that escapes the monochromatic scale: a limited-edition, red bomber jacket, embodying and embroidered with Giuliano’s lines in gray, the jacket is testament to HØAT’s commitment to its style and resistance to being put in any box. The jacket, which will be launched as a limited edition with 13 pieces, will be made available as at HØAT’s Instagram and website.
