DEWSALL COURT

Set in the heart of Herefordshire countryside there could hardly be a more tranquil place for Grade II Dewsall Court to be situated. Once the former home of the Robinson family the sole-use venue, which also hosts special event stays, chef dining evenings and weddings, has recently completed the renovation of a stunning new event space.

The 17th century country house is filled with family portraits of the Robinsons and decorated traditionally along with the odd quirky touch (our en-suite had an underwater theme). Each of the 10 bedrooms are uniquely decorated with a mix of period furniture and can sleep up to 23 guests.

The Granary Room

In perfect time for Summer Dewsall have unveiled their £550,000 transformation of Wainhouse Barn. Rustic stylings but with all the comforts you could need it adds another dimension to the venue to host anything from corporate events and away days to weddings accommodating around 175 seated guests.

Glass walls have been installed to the previously open-sided Barn, which concertina to completely open up the space towards the 15 acres of lush gardens and a living roof has been decorated with beautiful wildflowers.

The fully-soundproofed dance floor, brand new bar and a state-of-the-art kitchen helps to bring all of the event catering in-house. A range of activities can be organised by Dewsall’s experienced event planners; from archery, pottery making and fishing, to tai chi, foraging and paragliding making Dewsall the ultimate celebration venue.

Food and drink at the venue is key to their events. Produce is sourced locally and the team make fine use of the area’s local drink producers including Castle Brook Vineyard in the Wye Valley; fruit flavoured spirits, vodka and gin from Herefordshire’s Chase Distillery; traditional ales from the Wye Valley Brewery; award winning ciders and perry from Once upon a Tree and Weston’s.

Unless booking the entire house the hall is not open for overnight stays usually but their range of foodie inspired events pull in people from afar. Whether an intimate dinner with a famous TV chef or the annual winter Furs, Fire and Ice parties (which have become a regular pull for Xmas parties) there are occasional opportunities to get a glimpse of the court and newly updated barn.
